Charlotte Herman gets students excited about reading and writing! Armed with pen, notebook, and other tools of the trade, she leads them on a tour of the creative process--from idea, to story, to published book. Through her humorous and down-to-earth approach, she shares her knowledge and experience with students, inspiring and motivating them to read and write.

Students will learn how to transform their thoughts into writing, and use their imaginations and experiences to create their own stories.

The program is geared to all grade levels--from the primary grades through junior high.

About the Author

Charlotte Herman, a former teacher, lives in the Chicago area and is the author of twenty-one children's books. Among them are The House on Walenska Street, winner of the Carl Sandburg Literary Arts Award, and Our Snowman Had Olive Eyes, which received the Society of Midland Authors Children's Book Award.

Her other books include the Millie Cooper series, the Max Malone series, A Summer on Thirteenth Street, My Mother Didn't Kiss Me Good-Night, and The Memory Cupboard: A Thanksgiving Story. Her newest book My Chocolate Year is forthcoming from Simon & Schuster in February, 2008.

Her books have been nominated for numerous state awards and have been selected as an Editors' Choice of the ALA and as a Children's Choice of the Children's Book Council and the International Reading Association.

They have been translated into French, Danish, German, Chinese, and Dutch. They have been listed in Best of the Best for Children and Choosing Books for Children.
