Carol Madden Adorjan: THE CAT SITTER MYSTERY

A lifelong Chicago area resident and former high school teacher, Carol Madden Adorjan conducts writing workshops for all ages. From '90 to '98 she was an adjunct faculty member at National-Louis University, Evanston, IL, co-teaching a graduate course on Writing for Children.

As Writer in Residence for the Illinois Arts Council ('81 - '82), she worked with EMH and/or physically handicapped elementary and high school students. Another residency that year resulted in an invitation to work with under achievers ('83). In '84, at the request of the Iowa Arts Council, she initiated a radio script writing and production program involving elementary, high school, and college students along with the local public access radio station.

She has written twenty children's books, several for two popular series. THE CAT SITTER MYSTERY has had "nine lives" with its many editions here and abroad, including braille and large print versions. This book and its sequel, THE COPY CAT MYSTERY , have recently been reissued through the Authors Guild Backinprint.com program.

Her articles, features, and short fiction have appeared in a variety of newspapers, trade, religious, national and literary magazines, here and abroad, including TEEN, AMERICAN GIRL, THE CHICAGO TRIBUNE, NORTH AMERICAN REVIEW, REDBOOK, WOMAN'S DAY.

Her award winning stage and radio plays have been given readings and/or been produced in New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Milwaukee, etc. and by, among others, the BBC, CHICAGO RADIO THEATRE, WESTERN PUBLIC BROADCASTING, THE HOLLYWOOD THEATRE OF THE EAR, and THE NATIONAL RADIO THEATRE, for whom she was Writer in Residence ('80 - '81) and whose production of her adaptation of THE SEA WOLF won the 1981 Ohio State Award.

She is available for school or bookstore visits and autographing.
