Are you interested in writing and/or illustrating for children?

Have you written or illustrated a children's book but don't know what to do now?

Are you looking for a writing class, an illustration class, an agent?

Are you looking for a speaker for your bookstore, school or library?

Congratulations! You've come to the right place - the Illinois Chapter of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators.

Over 900 children's book writers and illustrators live and work in Illinois. They're writer-friendly, illustrator-friendly, generous in spirit, with day jobs, night jobs and varying years of experience. Many of their words and pictures can be found in trade books, children's magazines, religious publications, educational publications, on the web, on the screen, on the stage and even on the radio. All share the desire to tell their stories well so their stories will resonate in the hearts and minds of readers.

Extensive programming throughout the calendar year offers Illinois SCBWI members opportunities to hone their craft, sharpen their skills, market their work and value children's literature. Members also meet informally across the state to connect, network and participate in critique groups in Illinois' burgeoning regional NETWORKS.

bullet Three times a year, The Prairie Wind offers subscribers vital information on the children's book community, career issues, the craft of writing and illustrating, children's literature, and chapter members. Join SCBWI-Illinois today to read the most recent issue of the Prairie Wind.
bullet A two-way Listserv allows members to connect all day, every day, all year long.

Each writer and illustrator is a Work in Progress. So, too, is this website. Be sure to bookmark this site so you can return often to note the growth of SCBWI-Illinois.
