Horoscopes for Nov. 1 – Dec. 31, 2007
RETROGRADE* ALERT: Yay! Mercury (retrograde since Oct. 11) turns direct Nov. 2. Mars turns retrograde Nov. 15 (direct Jan. 30). Saturn turns retrograde Dec. 19 (direct May 2).
ARIES, The Ram (March 21-April 19)
On Nov. 15 Mars (your ruling planet) turns retrograde while in its fall in Cancer and square your Sun. That can’t be good! Be alert for ways you might be sabotaging your own efforts through impatience or an overactive temper. It’s not the best time to start something new, and working with others may be a challenge. Writers and illustrators will get relief from these conditions Nov. 23-Dec. 22. That will also be the best time to determine which projects have worked well in the past as you prepare for the future.
TAURUS, The Bull (April 20-May 20)Even though Venus (your ruling planet) is weak Nov. 1-8, it’s trine your natal Sun, indicating camaraderie and favorable relationships. But wait, there’s more! Venus turns on the charm during its stay in Libra Nov. 9-Dec. 5. Illustrators are likely to get highly positive “vibes” during that period, helping to offset the poor placement of Venus before Nov. 9 and after Dec. 5. Writers, use the period from Nov. 1-11 to get paperwork under control. Group discussions are likely to be productive for you.
GEMINI, The Twins (May 21-June 20)
All you Twin-types get to enjoy the effects of Mercury’s trine with your natal Sun Nov. 1-11. Things could be less than ideal Dec. 2-20, with Mercury in its detriment in Sagittarius in opposition to your Sun. Conflicts may require the intervention of a third party. Nov. 23-Dec. 22 could be discouraging if you have not prepared properly. Writers, make hay while the sun shines (Nov. 1-11). Illustrators, you’ll get additional planetary support Nov. 9-Dec. 5 when Venus trines your Sun.
CANCER, The Crab (June 21-July 22)
The Sun remains in Scorpio until Nov. 22, forming a trine with your natal Sun and offering you low stress paired with high energy. The placement of the Moon (your ruler) could present challenges Nov. 9-11, Nov. 14-15, Dec. 6-8, and Dec. 11-13. You have great lunar support Nov. 23-24 and Dec. 20-21. Writers are advised to “reach for the moon” Nov. 12-Dec. 1. Illustrators may find themselves “crying for the moon” at times Dec. 6-30, with Venus (ruler of artists) in its detriment in Scorpio.
LEO, The Lion (July 23-August 23)
You Lions may have a sense that some aspect of your life is struggling to get out into the light Nov. 1-22, when the Sun (in Scorpio) squares off against your natal Sun. Fortunately writers and illustrators both receive support from Mercury and Venus, respectively, at least part of the time. Equilibrium is likely to be regained Nov. 23-Dec. 22, when the Sun is in Sagittarius, trine your natal Sun. It will be beneficial to focus on moving forward and to avoid any tendency to dwell on regrets.
VIRGO, The Virgin (August 23-September 22)
The Sun dishes out some positive energy to Virgos Nov. 1-22 and Dec. 23-31. Examine how far you’ve come toward realizing your goals for this year and determine what remains to be done. Mercury (your ruler) plays well with your Sun during those timeframes as well. Expect to see possibilities in everyday aspects of life. Writers, watch out for potential problems with people in authority Dec. 2-20. Illustrators, there’s always room for improvement, but be sure to take note of what’s going right, especially Nov. 1-8.
LIBRA, The Scales (September 23-October 22)
Venus (your ruling planet) flounders a bit Nov. 1-8 and again Dec. 6-30, resulting in a double whammy for Libra illustrators. However, a Venus-Sun conjunction Nov. 9-Dec. 5 and a Sun-to-Sun sextile Nov. 23-Dec. 22 can open the door to creativity, love and beautiful surroundings. Libra writers get a boost Nov. 1-11 via a Mercury-Sun conjunction. You’ll need to be extra-careful to keep track of details Dec. 2-20. You should probably prepare to deal with a fast tempo during that period as well.
SCORPIO, The Scorpion (October 23-November 21)
Happy Birthday to Scorpios born Nov. 1-21! All Scorpios may feel a bit of a sting from the Mars retrograde that begins Nov. 15, but Mars also trines your Sun, bringing high energy, self-confidence and enthusiasm. Writers benefit from a Mercury-Sun conjunction Nov. 12-Dec. 1. Illustrators get a slight boost Nov. 1-8 and Dec. 6-30 from Venus-Sun aspects, even though Venus is weak. Scorpio birthdays of interest: Jago (11/2/79); Astrid Lindgren (11/14/07); William Steig (11/14/07); Jonathan Stroud (10/27/70).
SAGITTARIUS, The Archer (November 22-December 21)
Well, my fellow centaurs, it was fun while it lasted, but all good things must come to an end. Jupiter leaves Sagittarius on Dec. 19 and enters Capricorn, where it is considered to be in its fall. It’s a heck of a birthday present, isn’t it? Our best defense (and greatest challenge) will be to maintain our faith, sense of humor and openness to people and life. Sagittarius birthdays of interest: Quentin Saxby Blake (12/16/32); Madeleine L’Engle (11/29/18); Mercer Mayer (12/10/43); E.H. Shepard (12/10/1879).
CAPRICORN, The Goat (December 22-January 19)
Starting Dec. 22, it’s Happy Cappy Birthday time! Saturn (your ruling planet) forms a harmonious aspect with your Sun Nov. 1-Dec. 31. However, Saturn turns retrograde Dec. 19, and Capricorns could be particularly sensitive to the associated lessons and limitations. Writers get a Mercury-Sun boost Nov. 12-Dec. 1. Illustrators get some relief from “Venus issues” Nov. 1-8 and Dec. 6-30. Capricorn birthdays of interest: Dave McKean (12/29/63); Pam Muñoz Ryan (12/25/51).
AQUARIUS, The Water-Carrier (January 20-February 18)
Water-carriers could face some challenges Nov.1-22 via a Sun-to-Sun square. A Mercury-Sun trine helps writers weather storms Nov. 1-11. For all Aquarians, accomplishments become more apparent and the ability to work with others is enhanced Nov. 23-Dec. 22. Writers, you may need to keep a stiff upper lip Dec. 2-20 when Mercury, in its detriment in Sagittarius, squares your Sun. Illustrators will receive a bit of support from a Venus-Sun trine Dec. 6-30, even though Venus is in its detriment in Scorpio.
PISCES, The Fish (February 19-March 20)
Like we funky half-human, half-horse people, you fishies will mourn Jupiter’s descent into its fall in Capricorn. Fortunately, a Sun-to-Sun trine in effect until Nov. 22 and a Sun-to-Sun sextile Dec. 23-31 bring a ray of sunshine to the watery depths. Mercury gives Pisces writers a boost Nov. 12-Dec. 1 and again Dec. 20-31, although Dec. 2-20 could be a bit dicey. Illustrators, you have the same Venus woes as everyone else in Nov.-Dec. but can come up for air Dec. 6-30 when Venus trines your Sun.
* Retrograde Motion: An apparent backward motion of a planet among the stars resulting from the observation of the planet from the planet Earth which is also revolving about the sun at a different velocity. When a planet is retrograde, its energies are blocked, inhibited or contradictory.
