Ruth Spiro is the author of the award-winning picture book, Lester Fizz, Bubble-Gum Artist (Dutton, 2008). It’s the story of a boy who feels he doesn’t fit in with his family of artists, until he discovers his own unique talent in an unexpected medium – bubble gum!

Lester Fizz and his family are influenced by many artists, whose paintings, sculpture and photographs are referenced throughout the text and illustrations. Readers will recognize works inspired by Edgar Degas, Winslow Homer, Frida Kahlo, Dorothea Lange, Georgia O’Keeffe, Vincent Van Gogh, and more.

In addition, Ruth’s articles and essays have appeared in Disney’s Family Fun, Child, and The Writer. Her stories have also been published in popular anthologies, notably The Right Words at the Right Time, Volume 2, edited by Marlo Thomas, and several Chicken Soup for the Soul titles.
