Suzanne Slade Suzanne Slade is the author of over 80 children’s books.

Recent picture books include:  CLIMBING LINCOLN'S STEPS (Albert Whitman, 2010 - this title is also offered by Scholastic School Book Fairs), WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE? (Sylvan Dell, 2010), WHAT'S NEW AT THE ZOO? (Sylvan Dell, 2009), and ANIMALS ARE SLEEPING (Sylvan Dell, 2008).  Watch for these books coming soon:  THE HOUSE THAT GEORGE BUILT (Charlesbridge, 2011) and MULTIPLY ON THE FLY (Sylvan Dell, 2011).

Ms. Slade’s works also include beautifully illustrated biographies of important historical figures such as Susan B. Anthony, Albert Einstein, Sojourner Truth, Frederick Douglass, Cesar Chavez, Martha Washington, Booker T. Washington and Jackie Robinson, as well as many books about animals, insects, sports, and science.

Ms. Slade enjoys visiting schools and libraries to share her engaging, hands-on presentations.

Ms. Slade will read her picture books, WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE? (A subtraction title which shares how people make a difference for endangered animals), WHAT'S NEW AT THE ZOO? (An addition book about baby animals) and ANIMALS ARE SLEEPING, in her interactive program where students learn fascinating animal facts.

Authors Are Awesome

Students will discover the "inside scoop" of this author's long journey to publication, learn about the publishing process and how an idea becomes a book, and enjoy an author reading.

Fascinating Figures in History

Ms. Slade will read CLIMBING LINCOLN'S STEPS and discuss important people in history who have bravely stepped out for change.  This program is especially popular in February (Black History Month).
