Mary Jessie Parker (Nourie), a writer of children’s fiction and a life-long resident of central Illinois, was born in Kankakee, taught grades K-3 in Cissna Park and Danville public schools, and presently resides in Newman with her husband, Kevin Nourie. As an author Mary Jessie Parker has spoken before adults and children at state and local Young Author celebrations, Illinois Reading Council meetings, library programs, school assemblies, and in classrooms from kindergarten through high school.
