Carol Coven Grannick Carol Coven Grannick loves to write and talk about children’s books. She writes picture books, middle grade novels and short stories, and facilitates a 4th-5th grade writing and critique group at an elementary school in Skokie.

Her workshop, WHY DO YOU LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THAT BOOK? looks at three important aspects of great picture books and middle grade novels that make us fall in love, and even want to change our lives.

Carol's workshops for children are custom-designed for developmental levels and curriculum needs. Her workshops for adults include parent organization and private association presentations.

Her first story for children, “The Inside Ballerina,” appeared in Cricket in 2001, and a second story will appear in Highlights. She has won several awards for her picture book manuscripts.

Carol received a BA in Creative Writing from Barnard College, and an MSW in Social Work. She writes a quarterly column, "Revise Yourself", for the Illinois SCBWI PRAIRIE WIND.

Carol loves to work with groups of children in an interactive, experiential setting.
