James Dague
James Dague , a.k.a. “ScribbleJim”, is the creator of ScribbleMonster & His Pals, a children’s book and music series which introduces children to the joy of creating. "The Fieldtrip that Comes to You: An Adventure in Creativity!" includes storytelling, music, dance, creative thought, play, and of course, illustrating. The 45-60 minute presentation and materials stimulate creativity and expression while showcasing each child's unique abilities. Presentations are curriculum-based and were developed in concert with teachers of various grade levels and student abilities, a school counselor and an early childhood specialist.
PreK-3rd Grade Programs • An Adventure in Creativity
To prepare students for an optimal experience during the school presentation, class ScribbleBooks and music are distributed to your school one month prior to the visit. Students share the experience of helping to illustrate a book and become familiar with the characters and songs. Activity sheets are also provided on the day of the performance. Although the focus of ScribbleJim's visit is the joy of creativity, each program has its own unique theme. As ScribbleBooks are recommended for ages 2 to 9, this group is Jim's primary audience.
Intermediate Grades • The Creative Process
Presentations are also available for intermediate grades focusing on the creative process and what goes into writing and illustrating a book and fulfilling your dreams. ScribbleJim stresses the importance of practice and promotes the fact that you simply can't be creative while sitting in front of a TV all day long. Appropriate introduction to a young writers program while reinforcing ScribbleJim's mantra, "If you do it, you become it."
Special Education • Family Events
"Creative play" music concerts for special needs groups and Family Night performances by ScribbleJim, The ScribbleSingers or the ScribbleMonster & His Pals Band are also available.
