Lisa
Cinelli -- MA in Illustration, Syracuse University; BFA, The
School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Lisa Cinelli is a Teaching Artist. She is a painter, children's
book author/illustrator, and instructor. She is currently teaching Children's
Book Illustration at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, conducting
teacher workshops and art classes for grades 6-12 through the Marwen
Foundation, and conducts workshops and residencies for A. R. T. Lisa travels
worldwide teaching workshops focusing on the world of Children's Book
Illustration, the many ways of using images for story telling and how to
achieve narrative success through a variety of artistic possibilities.
Classes and Workshop titles include:
1. Illustrating Books: The Art of Children's Book
Illustration. Always keeping the story in mind, participants explore materials
and techniques to best express their stories in traditional and non-traditional
book formats.
2. Collaged Accordion Books: Which comes first, the words or
the pictures? Using poetry exercises and mixed media, students of all ages
enjoy creating personal accordion books, documenting a time, a place, a person,
or an event.
3. Teaching Teachers and Having Fun Using Stories and Making Art in the
Classroom: Using examples of art in Fiction and Nonfiction picture
books, this workshop emphasizes the combination of research and art
making, from printmaking to collage and mixed media, into all areas of the
curriculum.
