Lisa Cinelli -- MA in Illustration, Syracuse University; BFA, The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Lisa Cinelli is a Teaching Artist. She works as a painter, children's book author/illustrator, and instructor. Lisa currently teaches Children's Book Illustration at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and conducts teacher workshops and art classes for grades 6-12 through the Marwen Institute, an after school arts based program serving the underserved in Chicago. She leads writing and illustrating workshops for high school students participating in the Chicago Botanic Garden's Fairchild Challenge. Lisa travels worldwide teaching hands on workshops focusing on the world of Children's Books and Book Illustration.

Classes and Workshop Titles include:
1. Illustrating Books: The Art of Children's Book Illustration. Participants explore materials and techniques to best design and illustrate their stories in traditional and non-traditional book formats. This workshop is often tied into a particular curriculum's needs and goals.

2. Collaged Accordion Books: Which comes first, the words or the pictures? Using poetry exercises and mixed media, students of all ages enjoy creating three dimensional personal accordion books combining words and pictures.

3. Teaching Teachers Art Making Techniques: Examining fun art combinations including watercolor, collage, printmaking and mixed media found in picture book illustrations, this workshop is a hands on experience to expand ideas for the classroom's artmaking and bookmaking projects.
