Andrea Beaty is serious about silly. This explains the enormous props she totes around to school visits, including a 5 ft toothbrush, an enormous dirty sock, a huge tennis ball and other very odd items. It also explains the laughter from the kids during her presentations. Reading and writing should be joyous and fun experiences for kids, and Andrea tries to reinforce this idea through the use of humor in her presentations.

6 + 1 Traits of WritingAndrea is a huge fan of the 6+1 Traits of Writing programs used in many Illinois schools. She offers group presentations and writing workshops for K-5 on Ideas and Content, Sentence Fluency, Word Choice and Voice.
