Arthur illustrates his books with the age-old technique of etching, explained in his book, ETCHER'S STUDIO.

The Art Institute of Chicago exhibited the original illustrations for GIANT BALL OF STRING and selections from six other books in November 2002 - March 2003.

Recommended Grades 3 and up (Rather technical for K-2.) "How a Book Is Made" is Arthur's presentation for schools. He explains the process, beginning with the idea through holding the bound book in hand. He shows actual samples of work to accompany each step.

For Adults:

"Life Influences Art" is Arthur's presentation for colleges, conventions, or conferences. With slides and humorous lecture, he shows the influence of his daily life, especially building his houses, on the books he creates.
